Counter-program of the Islamic Bank Customer Coordination Council
A counter-programme has been organised under the banner of 'Islami Bank Victims' Customer Coordination Council'. This programme will be held in front of the Islami Bank central office in Motijheel, Dhaka, at 12:30 pm today.
Earlier, several thousand employees who were laid off from six Islamic banks once controlled by S Alam gathered in front of Islami Bank from 10 am. Most of them live in Patiya, Chittagong.
The president of the Customer Coordination Council, Nurun Nabi Manik, presented a 5-point demand from the rally of the Customer Coordination Council. The demands are- 1. Arrest all top looters including S Alam and confiscate their assets in the country and return the laundered money; 2. Repeal Section 18/A added to the Bank Resolution Act; 3. The government must take responsibility for the situation that arises if a mob creator is given a chance in front of the bank; 4. No one who creates a mob should be given a chance to enter the bank and 5. The bank ownership must be returned to the real owners of the bank as soon as possible.
The human chain announced a leaflet distribution program to shape public opinion to achieve these demands. They said the program will be held for the next 15 days.
