BNP nomination hopefuls assure government of cooperation

BNP is conducting final screening to determine who will be the MPs for the reserved women seats in the national elections. The party interviewed the candidates from 10 organizational divisions in Gulshan, the capital, on Friday and Saturday. During this time, the women leaders highlighted their sacrifices and contributions in the movement and struggle in the past days.

At the same time, they also talked about the next steps after getting or not getting the nomination. The candidates for the women's seats pledged to accept the party's decision. At the same time, they mentioned during the interview that those who get the nomination for the reserved women seats will cooperate with the government in various ways for the development of the country along with other women leaders.

On the last day of the interview yesterday, Saturday, BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman interviewed the candidates from Chittagong, Sylhet, Comilla, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions. At that time, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Nazrul Islam Khan, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Salahuddin Ahmed, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Selima Rahman, AZM Zahid Hossain and Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi were present along with the party's nomination board members.

About 450 nomination candidates participated in the interview today. Earlier, on the first day of the interview on Friday, BNP interviewed 378 people from Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal and Faridpur divisions.

According to the meeting sources, more than 800 nomination candidates for 36 seats were called to the party's parliamentary nomination board separately over two days. There, the board members looked at the biodata of reserved female candidates.

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman wanted to know from each of them what they would do if they got the nomination and what they would do if they didn't. Most of the leaders left this matter to Tarique Rahman. They promised to accept the party's decision. At the same time, they called for the party's resigned leaders to be evaluated. In these meetings, the Parliamentary Nomination Board assured that highly educated and resigned leaders would be evaluated.

Party sources said that the BNP Parliamentary Nomination Board interviewed more than four hundred nomination candidates on Saturday. The interviews began in Dhaka district of Dhaka division in the afternoon and ended in Chittagong division. The BNP Parliamentary Board will finalize the party's candidate by today after further inquiries.
