Government is hiding money and fuel: Jamaat Ameer

Opposition leader Shafiqur Rahman has accused the government of hiding the death of a child due to measles infection and the fuel crisis. He said, it is not possible to solve the problem by hiding the truth. If everyone accepts the crisis, it will be easier to deal with it through discussion.

He said these things after visiting the Children's Hospital and Asadgate petrol pump in Shyamoli in the capital on Saturday. The Jamaat Ameer called the environment of the Children's Hospital a 'disaster'. The opposition leader expressed his anger over the lack of emergency services like MRI and CT scan in the country's only specialized children's hospital.

He said, the country's only specialized children's hospital has only 700 beds. However, patients from all over the country come here. Although the cleanliness is satisfactory, the infrastructure and equipment crisis is terrible. Although there are NICU and PICU facilities for newborns, there are no MRI and CT scan. Dying children have to be sent outside for these tests, which is very risky.

The allocation to the hospital, run by the government, was reduced from Tk 30 crore last year to Tk 28 crore. Questioning this, the opposition leader said, "When the budget is increasing, why was the allocation to this specialized institution in the health sector reduced?"

The doctors told the opposition leader that there was no bronchoscope machine. Later, he told reporters that he would try to provide a bronchoscope machine to the hospital. Politics does not mean just working with government allocation, but also standing by the people with his own pocket money for their welfare.

Shafiqur Rahman said, "What I saw about the measles situation is worrying. The number of patients is much more than the beds. The entire health sector is currently in a state of disarray. Hospitals are not service institutions, but can be compared to the market."

Criticizing the government, the Jamaat Amir said that many development plans are limited to paper and pen only. The existence of ICUs for the treatment of diseases like measles has not been found. Looking at the government's preparations, it seems that they are silent. When you listen to the government party in parliament, it seems that there is no problem in the country. They are hiding the reality.

On his way back from the hospital, the opposition leader spoke to car and motorcycle drivers and pump owners standing in line for fuel at the Asadgate petrol pump. Later, he told reporters, "I do not blame the government for the fuel crisis. It was created due to the war. What is there to be stealth here? Still, stealth is being done."

Dhaka-12 MP Saiful Alam Khan Milon, Jamaat Central Executive Council member Mubarak Hossain and other central leaders were present at the time.
